My research is primarily focused on drought and the hydroclimatology of the eastern United States, particularly as it relates to North Atlantic climate variability. Recent publications can be viewed here. Additionally, I am the Director of the UWF Tree Ring Analysis and Interpretation Laboratory (TRAIL). I have mentored undergraduate and graduate research projects on topics including tree-ring analyses of the ecological impacts of the urban forest canopy, tree-ring analyses of an isolated species variant of Atlantic White Cedar, and long-term urban heat island variability in the Southeast. Currently I am mentoring student research projects in the areas of historic tornado outbreaks in the eastern U.S., and observed drought variability in the U.S. Gulf Coast region.
